Murphy is in the house
Monday, September 18, 2006
And boy does his law have a long arm. I was all set to make a voip webcam decision this weekend, when good old Murphy dropped in and decided to take up housekeeping in my laptop. Guffaw. Snort. Ahem. So not the funny.
When we replace that blankety-blank-blank laptop (rhymes with bell), we'll also be playing a fun game called household computer musical chairs. Basically, El Offspring gets my desktop, his old iMac gets handed down to another kiddo, and I'll be using the laptop as my primary computer. Oh, the joy. I just can't wait.
But this impacts my webcam choice, so I'm extending the scope of my research to include a few more notebook-specific and standalone models, namely Logitech's QuickCam for Notebooks Deluxe & Pro; the Phillips ToUcam Pro and Vesta; and maybe something from Veo.
On a more positive note, even if I don't have a webcam, my computer can still pick up the feed when my brother calls with a video voip internet phone call...so I can see him, but he has no idea if I'm sitting there listening attentively, or if perhaps I'm pulling monkey faces at the monitor.
