Virtual Number Overview
You can use a Virtual Number to establish a "Local" phone number wherever your friends, family, or customers live. This virtual number allows people to call you for the price of a local call. Unlike a second or separate line, a virtual number is an alternate number that will ring to your primary phone line.
How does it work?
Let’s say you live in California and your area code is 949 and your sister lives in New York with a 212 area code. You can add a virtual phone number to your account in the 212 area code that rings directly to your main phone. Now your sister (and anyone else in that local area) can call you directly without having pay long distance charges. A virtual number allows others to call you as a local call from their rate center (city or town). A virtual number does not change how you make calls to other people. (Your Caller ID will still be your primary phone line’s number)
