Do I still need to keep my phone line from my old phone company?

As VoIP requires a High Speed Internet connection; this depends on your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Some ISP’s that provide DSL service require you to keep an active telephone line with their company. Generally, this can be “stripped” down to their cheapest plan. Other companies, such as Cable companies, do not require a phone line in which case the existing phone account can be cancelled.
