Toll-Free Number Overview
What are Toll-Free Numbers?
Toll-Free Numbers (800, 866, 877, or 888 numbers) allow people to call you from anywhere in the US without paying long-distance charges. The voip.com call routing system will point incoming Toll-Free Number calls to your primary voip.com account. The call transfer is fast and seamless; just like any other voip.com call. Toll-Free Numbers ring to your primary voip line (or whichever line you select).
How much does it cost to have a toll-free number?
Toll-Free Numbers are provided to you at a cost of $4.95 and include 100 minutes of use per month. Each additional minute is provided automatically as needed for 4.9 cents/minute. When you first activate the Toll-Free Number, there is a $9.95 set-up fee.
Who can call my toll-free number?
A toll-free number can be called from anywhere within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands.
What if someone wants to call me from outside the US and Canada? Can they use my toll-free number?
No. Toll-Free Numbers only work inside the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands. International callers will have to use your regular phone number.
What about outgoing calls?
Outgoing calls appear as your regular, primary phone number. The minutes used on outgoing calls do not effect any of the 100 minutes of your included monthly toll-free time.
If someone calls my regular number, does it count as part of the 100 minutes?
No. If someone calls your non-toll-free number, it does not count against your monthly included minutes.
How many Toll-Free Numbers can I have?
You can have an unlimited quantity of toll-free numbers.
Can I port my existing Toll-Free Number to voip.com?
No, toll-free numbers are not available for porting between service providers.
Why would I need a Toll-Free Number instead of getting a virtual number in another area code?
Virtual numbers allow you to have another phone number in an area code of your choice. Anyone that calls you from that area code does not pay long distance charges, regardless of your location. This is a great feature if everyone you wish to have call you is within one geographic location. If you have family and friends throughout the country, a Toll-Free Number allows you to be called without the caller paying any long distance charges; no matter where the caller is located.
How do I sign-up for a Toll-Free Number?
Existing voip.com customers can sign-up for toll-free numbers through the Add-Ons section of the user control panel. If you are not already a voip.com subscriber, please signup to get started.
If I do not use all the 100 minutes within the month, will they roll over to the next month?
No, your minutes will not roll over to the next month.
