Port only part of your number
It’s a long shot, but you may be able to port your phone number while changing the area code. Strictly speaking, it won’t be a true port, but the end result is that your main number remains the same while the area code is replaced with another one. For instance, phone numbers in Newark, NJ share the same exchange (the first three numbers after your area code) as numbers in Los Angeles, Ca. If your NJ number is available in LA, you can essentially keep the number except for the area code. How do you know which area codes share local exchange codes? Look it up at Fone Finder.
