CALEA (Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act of 1994) requirements apply to voip as well as landline accounts. This means that the government could conceivably gain access to your conversations. As a practical matter however, unless you’re engaging in illegal activities, you have nothing to worry about. You are no more likely to be wiretapped with a voip phone than with a traditional phone.
