The difference between a virtual number and a toll free number

At first glance, virtual numbers and toll free numbers look much like the same thing. They both provide a local number where friends, family, or business contacts can reach you. They also act as forwarding devices, routing all incoming calls directly to your primary number, unless you’ve designated another number for them to go to.

Where they differ is in their geographic footprints. Virtual numbers are local to a specific, limited area, while toll free numbers are considered local to the entire US.
