How do I get my calls to come through with caller ID?

Caller ID service is a cooperative effort between receiving and transmitting phone companies. When working as intended, CallerID will deliver the number of the caller directly to the display of your Caller ID enabled phone. The Name of the person calling is not automatically known and must be supplied by the local company that sends the call.

Currently, many POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) companies are choosing not to accept or transmit this information to non-traditional phone systems, such as VoIP and Wireless/Cellular.

The receiving phone system can choose what to display as the name of the caller if they are not receiving or accepting the submitted Caller ID Name. Voip.com will display any Name received by the sending company and will display an Unknown entry if the information is not provided. If the receiving company of a voip.com call chooses not to accept the Name from our service, they will generally display Unknown or the perhaps the City and State of the incoming phone number.
