Interconnected VoIP providers are required to register with the FCC by filing Form 499-A. This annual filing reports revenue and contributes to universal service fund obligations. VoIP.com complies with all applicable FCC regulations.

What is FCC Form 499-A?

Form 499-A is an annual Telecommunications Reporting Worksheet filed with the FCC's Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). All providers of interstate telecommunications services — including interconnected VoIP providers — are required to file this form.

Who must file?

Any company providing interconnected VoIP service (where users can both make and receive calls to/from the public switched telephone network) must register and file Form 499-A annually. This includes residential, business, and nomadic VoIP providers.

How to register

To register as an interconnected VoIP provider, you must obtain a Filer ID from USAC, file Form 499-A annually by April 1st reporting prior-year revenues, and contribute to the Universal Service Fund (USF), Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS), and other programs based on reported revenues.
